Week of JAN 9, 2018

Happy New Year!!
Hope everyone had a great Winter Break. We both enjoyed having two weeks off and we did our best to relax and forget all about school work! haha

We have Resources all this week! (So I made a mistake on the Resource Schedule. I have to double check everything and probably even make a new January Calendar.) On Friday we are celebrating the Jacksonville Jaguars SCHOOL WIDE!! Our Principal, Mrs.Metz has informed the school she wants to see Jacksonville Pride and we don't want to disappoint!! So wear your shirt and hats, maybe even your Jaguar socks!    Jourdan will be bringing in Fun Friday Snacks for the class. :)

MATH
We are finishing up our module on Measurement. The students did great today during our review for Friday's test!! They remembered all of the vocabulary and a few even remembered our "No No Words!!" ~ big and little. haha   Our Test will be on Friday.
Here are two great video's using the vocabulary we use in class!

READING
We are comparing and contrasting The Gingerbread Man and The Gingerbread Girl. Our focus is getting the students to discuss the books! We want them to compare/contrast the main characters emotions throughout the story, the people/ animals they meet, how the story ends, etc.
Here is a fun Gingerbread Man video that focuses on action words... VERBS! (We branch out with vocabulary anytime we can!haha )

SIGHT WORDS/SAXON/BLENDS AND MORE!!
During third quarter we do A LOT with Reading Skills!! Our Sight words are: we, was, for, come. Saxon is reviewing beginning sounds, rhyming and focusing on ending, Our blends this week are ch- and cl-. Then we will be working on segmenting any given word... this is just chopping up a word into it's sounds. We do this daily in writing!
Here are the blend slideshows. Enjoy!

WRITING
We are reviewing all the rules we have for writing sentences and we are REALLY focusing on writing all the sounds we hear in words. The students will be writing with partners to gain writing stamina and confidence! Our goal is for the students to be able to read each others writing and write notes to each other. (It's so much fun!!)
