So this is going to be a GREAT Week!! We have literacy activities daily and we have TWO FIELD TRIPS!! haha   (Deep breaths everybody! haha)
We have resources on Monday and Thursday, Tuesday we go to the JCA to learn more about Native Americans. Then on Friday we are off to the ZOO! Please see the note we wrote about the Zoo on the Conduct Sheet. Your child does not need any money!! ooh I almost forgot the best part... Wednesday we are having a Mystery Reader! (We'll be sure to take pictures and post them on the blog.)
Make sure to wear BLUE for both Field Trips and on Friday Zoey in sending in Fun Friday Snacks.

MATH
We are continuing our lessons on more, less and enough. Due to the craziness of field trips this week we will be combining a few lessons and skipping over the ones that the class has mastered. :)
Here's a video we watch in class. You can use it to practice one more and I'm adding in the one less video so the students can practice that too!

READING
For Literacy Week we chose the book Froggy's First Kiss. (It's Mrs.Croft's favorite!!)  We will be discussing the vocabulary in the book and and using picture clues to figure out what is going on in the book. On Wednesday, our Mystery Reader will read it to the class.  We will also be creating a snowman character to match a character from the book. :) We'll be using them to decorate our door that Mrs.Conner covered for us with blue paper.
Here is a youtube reading of the book.

SIGHT WORDS/ SAXON/ READING SKILLS
Our words for the week are: do, been, your & little. Continue to practice Sight Words!! Students are expected to read 60 this quarter.
Saxon is continuing to teach us coding rules. The students have been WAITING to code with a macron and it's coming. Here is a youtube video you can watch that shows how "Magic e" makes the vowel go from being a short sound (we code this with a breve) to a long sound (we code these with a macron over the vowel and a slash through the e to show that it's silent).
Our blends this week are: /fr/ and /gl/ Here are the slideshows we will watch in class. Our focus is on hearing the blends at the beginning of words and then we work into hearing them in the middle and ends of words throughout writing.
As if we didn't have enough... (haha) we're also throwing in the -ad Word Family. This allows us to practice substituting beginning sound and work on rhyming. (I found this Jack Hartmann video on line and I thought I'd give it a try. )
**We will not get to uppercase letter writing this week. PLEASE practice that at home!!**

WRITING
With everything going on this week, students will be adding/ editing their past journal entries.
